Meet the Pastor

Rev. Dr. Major Brown III is a native of John's Island, South Carolina, a rural area in Charleston County.  He is one of 8 children born to the late Anna Brown and Christopher Brown.  His strong faith and love of GOD stems from his mother, Anna Brown, and the faith based community in which he grew up in.  Given his upbringing, it is of no surprise that at the age of eleven Rev. Dr. Brown accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.

Rev. Dr. Brown received his primary education in Mt. Zion Elementary School and Haut Gap High School on Johns Island, SC.  He then went on to receive with his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.

After graduating, he returned home and worked as a teacher for three years at the College of Charleston and then as an insurance agent for 10 years.  At the age of 30 Rev. Brown received his call from GOD into ordained ministry but rejected it.  After three years of running from the call, he surrendered to the Holy Spirit and answered the call without wavering.

Rev. Dr. Brown went on to further his education and receive his Master of Divinity Degree with Honors from Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA in 1988.  Thereafter he was ordained deacon in 1990 and ordained Elder 1992.  Driven by an unending hunger for God’s Word and compassion to better serve God’s people, Rev. Dr. Brown continued his education and received his Doctor of the Ministry Degree with Honors from International Theological Seminary in Florida in 2015.

For the past 35 years Rev. Dr. Brown has served as Pastor to 19 churches throughout South Carolina in the United Methodist Church Conference.

Rev. Dr. Brown and his wife Margie have 6 adult children (four sons and two daughters), 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren Rev. Dr. Brown is a man after GOD’s own heart, who has dedicated his life to the service of Jesus Christ, proclaiming the gospel, teaching the Holy Scriptures and caring for the people of God.
